Flavor Details
Willingham's barbecue marinade is a staple for anyone looking to elevate their grilling experience. Since its inception in 1971 by John H. Willingham, the signature marinade has been designed to enhance the flavors of your favorite meats. The journey began when John sought a superior method for barbecuing and developed the innovative W'ham Turbo Cooker alongside a collection of all-purpose seasonings and sauces. His relentless pursuit of perfection led to breakthroughs in barbecue bliss, which he tested at the prestigious Memphis in May International Bar-B-Que Festival.
Here, his barbecue team, "The River City Rooters", not only showcased their talents but also brought home the coveted first place in Ribs and the title of Overall World's Bar-B-Que Grand Champion. Willingham's barbecue marinade played a crucial role in these victories, demonstrating its unmatched quality. In subsequent competitions, John’s ribs continued to shine as they captured the first place again and secured the title of World's Grand Champion at the 1984 Memphis in May event.
The tradition of excellence didn’t stop there; at the American Royal BBQ contest, John won multiple categories including 1st place for Pork, Beef, and Lamb, proving that his barbecue techniques and sauces, especially the renowned Willingham's barbecue marinade, are truly exceptional. This award-winning marinade has stood the test of time, consistently delivering delicious results, making it a favorite among barbecue enthusiasts.
Today, Willingham's barbecue marinade remains popular among both seasoned chefs and home grillers alike. It is perfect for marinating, basting, or even using as a dipping sauce, making it a versatile choice for all your culinary needs. Experience the difference that Willingham's barbecue marinade can bring to your cooking and join the ranks of award-winning barbecue masters.

How do I pick the right rub for what I'm cooking?
How do I pick the right rub for what I'm cooking?
Start with the protein. Beef loves coarse, pepper-forward rubs. Pork and chicken take well to sweeter, sugar-based blends. Fish and veggies want something lighter. Every product page tells you what the rub was built for, and if you're stuck between two, ask us. We cook with this stuff every weekend.
How long do rubs and sauces stay good?
How long do rubs and sauces stay good?
Unopened, most rubs hold peak flavor for about a year and sauces until the date on the bottle. Once opened, keep rubs sealed away from heat and humidity (not on the shelf above the grill) and refrigerate sauces after opening. If it still smells strong, it still cooks strong.
What if a flavor isn't what I expected?
What if a flavor isn't what I expected?
Give it a second shot before you shelve it. Rubs behave differently depending on the protein, the heat, and how heavy you go. A blend that's just okay on chicken is often unbelievable on pork ribs, and most sauces open up when they're brushed on during the last few minutes instead of after. If you tell us what you cooked and how, we'll tell you how to get the most out of the bottle you've got.
